About
My Perspective
Throughout my career, I've worked with organisations navigating growth, change and complexity. I've sat around boardroom tables, led operational teams, worked in government and supported businesses through periods of significant transformation.
While the industries, challenges and environments have varied, one lesson has remained remarkably consistent: organisations rarely fail because they lack information. More often, they struggle because they lack perspective.
I founded Long View to create space for better thinking, better conversations and ultimately better decisions.
My approach combines practical leadership experience with formal study, including a Master's degree in Strategic Leadership. I am particularly interested in the relationship between leadership, decision-making and organisational performance, and how leaders can balance short-term pressures with long-term success.
Professional Background
A career defined by leadership, governance, and the pursuit of strategic clarity.
Chief Executive Officer
Leading organisations through periods of growth, transformation and market change has given me first-hand experience of the challenges faced by modern leaders. As a CEO, I have been responsible for strategic direction, organisational performance, culture, governance and commercial outcomes. The role has reinforced my belief that successful organisations are built through clarity of purpose, strong leadership and the ability to make confident decisions in uncertain environments.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, I was responsible for translating strategy into execution across complex and fast-moving organisations. This included operational leadership, service delivery, process improvement, technology adoption and organisational effectiveness. The experience taught me that sustainable growth is rarely driven by strategy alone. It requires disciplined execution, aligned teams and a relentless focus on delivering value for customers and stakeholders.
Board Advisor & Mentor
Working alongside boards, trustees and leadership teams has provided valuable insight into governance, accountability and long-term decision-making. My role as an advisor is not to provide all the answers, but to offer an independent perspective, challenge assumptions and help leaders navigate complexity with confidence. I believe the most effective boards create space for constructive challenge whilst remaining focused on long-term organisational success.
Government & Policy Advisor
My experience within government and policy development provided a unique perspective on regulation, stakeholder management and evidence-based decision-making. Working across politically sensitive and highly regulated environments reinforced the importance of balancing competing priorities, understanding unintended consequences and developing solutions that are both practical and sustainable. These lessons continue to influence my approach to leadership and strategic advisory work today.
MBA (Strategic Leadership)
Alongside my professional experience, I completed a Master's degree in Strategic Leadership at the University of Portsmouth. The programme deepened my understanding of leadership, organisational behaviour, governance and long-term strategic thinking, whilst providing a valuable opportunity to explore the challenges faced by modern organisations through both academic research and practical application. It continues to influence my approach today, particularly when helping leaders balance immediate operational demands with long-term strategic objectives.
Chartered Manager (CMgr)
As a Chartered Manager, I am committed to the highest standards of professional leadership and management practice. Chartered status is awarded by the Chartered Management Institute and recognises a combination of practical leadership experience, professional competence and a commitment to continuous development. The principles that underpin Chartered Manager status align closely with my own philosophy: that effective leadership combines commercial performance with accountability, integrity and long-term thinking.
Why Work With Me?
The leaders I work with are rarely looking for another report, framework or presentation. More often, they are looking for an experienced sounding board, an independent perspective and someone willing to challenge their thinking. Whether the conversation is about growth, leadership, governance or organisational change, my role is to create the space for clearer thinking, better questions and more confident decision-making.
My approach is grounded in practical experience rather than theory. Over the course of my career, I have led teams, navigated periods of rapid growth, worked within government, advised boards and supported organisations through significant change. I understand the realities of leadership because I have lived them myself, including the pressure, uncertainty and responsibility that come with making important decisions.
I believe the best advice is both honest, timely and actionable. That means providing challenge when it is needed, offering support when it is valuable and always focusing on outcomes rather than theory. Every organisation is different, but the most successful engagements tend to have one thing in common: a willingness to step back, look at the bigger picture and take the long view whilst remaining true to who you are.
