Speaker and Expert Commentator

Joe Headshot.png

Some industries need more than a soundbite.

I’m Joe Taffurelli, a senior leader with more than a decade’s experience across recruitment, staffing, umbrella and payroll.

I speak at conferences, podcasts, panels and in the media about umbrella payroll, CIS, employment status, compliance, regulation and the contingent workforce.

My approach is simple: clear, practical and straight-talking insight from someone who understands both the policy and the real-world commercial impact.

No jargon for the sake of it. No corporate script.

Just a straight-talking view from someone who knows the industry.

A point of view
02

If you invite me to contribute, I’ll contribute.

I’m happy to challenge conventional thinking, question where the industry is heading and talk openly about where I think we could do better.

That doesn't mean being controversial for the sake of it.

It means having a considered point of view and being prepared to explain why.

Good conversations are rarely created by everyone agreeing with each other.

01
Deep industry experience

I’ve spent more than a decade inside the recruitment, staffing, umbrella and payroll world.

I understand the legislation and regulation, but I also understand what happens when it meets the real world: contractors, agencies, employers, payroll teams, margins, technology, compliance and commercial pressure.

That means I can go beyond explaining what is happening.

I can talk about what it actually means for the businesses and people affected by it.

ALWAYS
Make the complicated understandable

Industry is full of acronyms, legislation, consultations, technical language and regulatory detail.

My job as a speaker or contributor isn't to demonstrate how complicated something is. It's to make it understandable.

Whether I'm talking to industry experts, recruitment leaders, policymakers, journalists or people encountering the subject for the first time, I want people to leave understanding more than they did when we started.

03
Commercial perspective

Regulation never exists in isolation.

A change to employment law affects behaviour. A tax rule changes commercial decisions. New compliance requirements reshape supply chains. Policy designed to solve one problem can unexpectedly create another.

Having led and grown businesses in this sector, I bring the commercial and operational perspective alongside the technical discussion.

What you get

Take the long view.

What can we talk about?

Well frankly... anything but I probably provide the most impact when we speak about the realities of building, leading and growing businesses, particularly:

  • Strategy and commercial decision-making

  • Leadership in complex and changing markets

  • Culture, accountability and organisational performance

  • Growth and transformation

  • Navigating uncertainty and competing priorities

  • Building businesses for the long term

Alongside that broader leadership perspective, I bring deep specialist experience from across the recruitment, staffing and contingent workforce ecosystem, including:

  • Umbrella companies and umbrella payroll

  • CIS and construction labour supply chains

  • Recruitment, staffing and contingent workforce strategy

  • Employment status, compliance and regulation

  • Payroll, worker engagement and labour supply chains

  • The future of flexible work

That combination means I can speak both about the bigger questions leaders face and the detail of a highly regulated, commercially complex industry.

Whether the conversation is about strategy, leadership, culture, growth, regulation or the future of work, my perspective is grounded in the reality of actually having led businesses through change.
